George Kekelidze Moderated Technical Session on Refinery Modernisation and Next-Generation Fuels

At a recent industry event, George Kekelidze, Chairman of the Board of the Association International Innovative Technologies, moderated the technical session “Modernising Refining Capacity for Next-generation Fuel Production.”

The session focused on advanced technologies and practical strategies aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of oil refining facilities. Key discussion points included the deployment of innovative processes to increase the output of next-generation fuels, catalytic technologies and synthetic fuel production, the evolution of GTL processes, assessment of CAPEX and OPEX for modernisation projects, optimisation of feedstock and product flows, and quality standards for next-generation fuels.

The discussion brought together representatives of industry and government to examine how refining infrastructure can adapt to new technological and market realities. Among the speakers were Odil Temirov, Chairman of the Management Board of Uzhimprom JSC, Sarvar Rakhimov, Head of Department at the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, Alisher Bakadirov, CEO of Uzbekistan GTL, as well as a representative of Honeywell.

The session highlighted the importance of combining technological innovation, economic efficiency, and quality assurance in order to strengthen the future of fuel production. It also reflected the growing attention in Uzbekistan to industrial modernisation and advanced energy technologies as part of broader efforts to improve sustainability, competitiveness, and energy security.

George Kekelidze’s role as moderator contributed to a focused and practical discussion, helping connect perspectives from industry leaders, policymakers, and technology providers.
