The Power Uzbekistan 2024 expo witnessed a significant milestone with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating Uzbekistan’s transition to renewable energy sources. The agreement was inked between the National Scientific Research Institute of Renewable Energy Sources (NIRES) under the Ministry of Energy, and a consortium that included EUROSOLAR Uzbekistan/Innovation Energy, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as other private companies.
The primary objective of this momentous MoU is to establish a Center for the Development of Innovative Educational Methods, Manpower Training, and Research on New Renewable Energy Technologies. This center will serve as a collaborative platform to exchange technologies, innovations, implement pilot projects, and prepare proposals for submission to the government of Uzbekistan.
Key areas of cooperation outlined in the agreement include research on cutting-edge renewable energy technologies, joint participation in pilot project implementation, mutual support during the design and construction phases of renewable energy projects, and the preparation of project proposals for governmental consideration.
Addressing the significance of the MoU, representatives from NIRES, EUROSOLAR Uzbekistan/Innovation Energy and other participating organizations emphasized Uzbekistan’s remarkable foresight and determination in pursuing an ambitious renewable energy agenda. The nation presents substantial opportunities for international stakeholders to contribute technologies, expertise, and capital towards building a sustainable energy future.
This landmark agreement underscores the collaborative efforts being undertaken to unleash Uzbekistan’s renewable energy potential and positions the Central Asian nation as an attractive destination for international investments in the sector. The MoU lays the groundwork for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and the implementation of innovative solutions that will drive Uzbekistan’s energy transition forward.
